Community Performance Information for 2026-2027
On top of our planned school performances (Winter and Spring Concerts) in the 2026-2027 season, students and families can plan for the following community performance opportunities:
Grade 6 JumpStart at St. Oscar Romero - Date TBD (Usually one day at the end of September/start of October)
*ECSD Band Share Day at Winspear Centre (Grade 8 and 9) - Date TBD (March 2027)
Alberta International Band Festival in Edmonton (Grade 8 and 9) - Date and time TBD (March 2027)
Alberta International Band Festival in Edmonton (Grade 7) - Date and time TBD (March 2027)
Alberta Band Association Festival of Bands in Red Deer (Grade 8 and 9) - Date, time, and venue TBD (May 2027)
Junior High Overnight Band Camp Trip to Camp Nakamun (Grade 7-9) - Dates TBD (Targeting February-March 2027)
*ECSD Band Share Day at the Winspear Centre is a busy event across ECSD. While the grade 8 and 9 music program will be registered, all efforts will be made to register the grade 7 band in this event as an extra performance opportunity.
Notice: Every year, March is a very busy month for school music programs. This is typically when major provincial music festivals are scheduled. Each STJ band that is registered at a festival receives an opportunity to perform for a live audience (typically other schools and families who wish to attend and watch), written and aural adjudication from highly accomplished musicians from the international community, and a 30 minute workshop with a guest conductor. These festivals augment and enrich the student music experience and serve to further satisfy learner objectives in the Junior High Music Program of Studies (Curriculum).
